Inaugurated on April 2008, the Opera House is the most important among the recent buildings of the city, and is part of the cultural project “ Fjord City”, aiming at the construction of a residential and commercial borough on the Oslo Fjord.
The majestic bulk of the building, about 38.500 kmq, is probably the most photographed monument, either for its suggestive position overlooking the sea and for the splendid façade in white marble with large windows.
Inside there are three halls, with the biggest one having a capacity of 1364 persons. In this theatre, one of the finest and more modern in the world, numerous events, concerts and ballets take place every year, and the place is always packed with visitors.
